Союз європейських футбольних асоціацій (УЄФА) спростовує інформацію про можливість підкупу чиновників УЄФА під час визначення країн-хазяїв чемпіонату Європи з футболу 2012 року.
Про це сказано в повідомленні інформаційного центру «Україна-2012».
Генеральний секретар УЄФА Джані Інфантіно назвав необґрунтованими заяви члена правління футбольної асоціації Кіпру Спіроса Марангоса про нібито наявність у нього доказів підкупу Україною та Польщею членів виконавчого комітету УЄФА для отримання права на проведення ЧЄ-2012 з футболу.
Генсек УЄФА заявив, що асоціація щодня отримує повідомлення про можливі факти корупції в організації.
«Якби ми займалися розслідуваннями всіх повідомлень, беззастережно довіряючи інформаторам, але не мали ніяких доказів, то нам би небагато часу залишилося для футболу», – сказав Інфантіно.
За інформацією німецьких ЗМІ, Марангос заявив, що збирається оприлюднити інформацію, що доводить, що Україна й Польща виграли право прийняти турнір завдяки підкупу 5 членів виконкому УЄФА, які нібито отримали за голоси на користь українсько-польської заявки 11 млн. євро.
Як повідомлялоcь, Україна та Польща отримали право на проведення ЧЄ-2012 з футболу у квітні 2007 року.
Тоді українсько-польську заявку підтримали 8 членів виконкому УЄФА з тих 12, які мали право голосу з цього питання (представники України та Італії не голосували).
UEFA Denies Allegations Of Corruption Involved In Selection Of EURO 2012 Host Countries
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has denied reports in several Western mass media as to the likelihood of officials of the association being bribed during the procedure to select the winning host county of the European Football Championship 2012, reads a statement made by the Ukraine-2012 information center.
UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino called the statement by a member of the administration of the Football Association of Cyprus, Spyros Marangos, that he has proof of bribery by Ukraine and Poland of members of the UEFA Executive Committee in order to win the right to hold the EURO 2012 finals «groundless accusations».
UEFA's senior management receive information on a daily basis about possible facts of corruption in the organisation, Infantino noted.
«If we were to investigate all these claims, unreservedly trusting informers, but having no proof about them, then we would have very little time for football», Infantino said.
Information from German mass media, Marangos said he was going to make public information proving Ukraine and Poland to have won the right to host the tournament thanks to a graft paid to five members of the UEFA executive committee who allegedly received EUR 11 million for their votes in favour of the Ukraine – Poland bid.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine and Poland in April 2007 won the right to co-host EURO 2012.
Then eight of the UEFA executive committee members backed the Ukrainian-Polish bid of the 12 who had the right to vote for this issue (the representatives of Ukraine and Italy did not vote).
